This is just how hot it was...sweat running down our legs!  Final name tag pic at the Villahermosa airport Luisito! And Tino in the background of course. They got me a cake and kindly shoved my face into it. Hilaria came to stake conference! We snagged a pic the famous Haws' I always kept track, it was great to mark of my final month! Goodbyes to Hermana Melgar and Hebertson at the ADO in Coatza All ready to fly home! An early morning at the Villa house, and the fact that Hermana Tovalino and I stayed up until 2 talking didn't help. I was surreal to get up and prepare to leave all by myself. Selfie in the airport! Welcome home...lost luggage and all! Flying over Tabasco. Where my heart is.

Let Us Live as He Lived

Hello there! Man, I never thought I'd be writing this. I guess it's about time. Hermana Roe here, checking in one last time. I've been home now for almost three months, and each day only makes my mission more dear to me. My final week was perhaps one of the best ever, it included lots of tight hugs and saying the only thing I could say; "Gracias." Thanks for everything. There aren't really enough words to convey the deep gratitude I hold for my full-time mission. Sometimes I have to pinch myself to see if it was all real. Up to my final week, there were miracles. Some of the sweetest and most satisfying miracles I've ever experienced, and some that have been a long time coming. First, my final pday we decided to go shopping en el Centro, and while we were walking along, something strange happened. A woman grabbed my arm and seemed flustered as she managed to get the words out, "Soy miembro de la Iglesia de Jesucristo de los Santos de los ultimos ...

Don't forget to live a little

Happy Monday!!                                                                                                        Sept 17, 2018 Every week is always an adventure, I just wanted to share a story of one of the normal days out here on the island. We visited with Hermana Carmita, who is a darling hermana that has many trials but has the biggest heart ever. and she has a tricicle! These are ALL OVER the place here in mexico, they are used for selling tamales, fish, panuchos, house supplies, whatever. And I have always wanted a pic with one because this is a huge part of the culture down here. Like people just ride these all over the place and, for example, if they sell bread (pan) they will just yell, "PAAAANNNNN" . It is ba...

Called to Serve

May 13, 2019 Happy Monday Everyone! And happy final week of the mission to me!!! So here's the thing: this is my last letter from the mission field. Next Monday, I'll be traveling to the mission offices in Villa, and Tuesday morning I'm off. Gone. Ouch, it hurts just thinking about it. Let me explain why: A perfect example: Sunday. Yesterday, I really felt the meaning of the hymn, "I Stand All Amazed". First, because Hilaria was baptized! She met the hermanas about 10 months ago, and we had actually left her, because I thought that she would never get around to it. But we felt like we needed to darle una vuelta, so we did. And she told us that it was time, she was ready to get baptized. I thought, "HA! Será. We´ll find out." Very quickly we were able to notice that the Spirit had been working on her. So on Sunday, she got baptized.  Just imagine it. Sitting in sacrament meeting, among members and families that I know and love. On one b...

Patience is a heavenly virtue

May 6, 2019 Happy Monday everybody! Can I just say, the Lord is so good to us? He really is. And I love Him. This past week, I was studying and thinking about what I should develop of the Christlike attributes. You already know, when we ask God what we need to improve or change, He lets us know pretty quickly.  So I am trying to develop more patience. I like it, it is very closely related with faith and hope. At the end of my study, I prayed for the opportunity to develop patience.  HE ANSWERED. Splits with Herbertson! So great! This week, it was hot.  This week, it was very, very, hot. It was also the "Día del Niño" so everybody was out and about partying, just like the past 2 weeks. So there weren't very many people available.  We planned well, but the backups to the backups fell. People that were going to get baptized suddenly had to suspend our visits, and people that were going to come to church never showed up. I may or may not h...

Do you know how many people do that???

March 3, 2019 Happy Monday everybody!! Hope everybody is doing just dandy. This week we basically just worked like crazy ladies and found some great people to teach! One of them is super super awesome, Jesús. Oh my lantaaaa you guys, I just love how we find these people in the most random ways. Haha we were looking for a street and asking someone for help. But here, once you ask someone, pretty soon all the neighbors are outside too, trying to help. So a guy a few houses down yelled out the direction and we kept going. We passed by for his house and started to chat and contact him. We explained that we were preaching the gospel, and he said that he would like it if we would teach his son. Hermana Benevides and me  So in that same moment he went and legit woke his son up (who was taking his afternoon nap/siesta) and he comes out to meet up. Poor kid, could barely walk straight he was so tired. He is 19 years old, and he accepted an appointment for the next day. (Saturday...

I Love to see the Temple!!!!!

April 29, 2019 Happy Monday again! I hope that everyone is doing just great. This week was pretty awesome, because I got to go to the temple!! WOOHOO can I get a round of applause? What a blessing to be able to attend the temple here in Villahermosa before I leave the mission field!!!! That was just the best. There is such a beautiful spirit there, and as we were walking up to the temple and I could see the angel moroni peek out from behind the buildings, I couldn't help but smile. Then, to make it even better this week, we got to teach of bunch of lessons about the Plan of Salvation!! There isn't anything much better than that, ya know?  Lunch with all Hermana's at District meeting Teaching the plan of Salvation is so awesome!!! On Sunday, we got to go teach a family (Wilbert and Martha and their 3 kids) and we taught the plan, and I just loved being able to promise and testify to them that their family and be together forever! It really truly ca...

April 22, 2019 Happy Monday! Good news, we are on the 2nd and final week of vacations down here, so you know what that means! People will be home! haha. And less parties!  This week was just a great week. We got to have zone conference on Friday, which was super fun but I was lowkey trying to avoid the fact that it was my last one! Until Presidente made me bear my testimony at the end. So yeah. But it was great to see some friends and learn new things!  I said to Elder Baugh after zone conference, "See ya at home!" Guys, I am just constantly amazed by how kind everybody is. I mean, we always find a little bit of everything down here, but I just wanted to share a cute story today! We are teaching somebody named María Elena, who is 83, and her son José. They are super great, and are progressing along very well. I love María's house because she has a bunch of vases and crystal stuff. So I was asking her about all of it and telling her that I wanted to buy somet...
