Always an Adventure

Happy Monday!!

Every week is always an adventure, I just wanted to share a story of one of the normal days out here on the island.

We visited with Hermana Carmita, who is a darling hermana that has many trials but has the biggest heart ever. and she has a tricicle! These are ALL OVER the place here in mexico, they are used for selling tamales, fish, panuchos, house supplies, whatever. And I have always wanted a pic with one because this is a huge part of the culture down here. Like people just ride these all over the place and, for example, if they sell bread (pan) they will just yell, "PAAAANNNNN" . It is basically the mexican version of an ice cream truck. And I love them! So yesterday we went to go and visit Hermana Carmita, and we walk down her street and see that her and her daughter Janet are outside studying in "Hijas en mi reino" so we jumped right in with them in their study. We talked about the importance of the family and how we can love and nurture others, whether or not we have our own children.

We were outside talking for a good while, and suddenly I notice that they have a triciclo, and I am just like, "Hermana, that is yours, right?" And she says yes, we all got so stoked. So we took photos out on the bike and I tried to ride away on it but then I realized that I didn't have any tamales to sell so realized that it was pointless. As we were out there, all of her neighbors came out and were having a good laugh. It isn't every day that you see 2 Americans and a Honduranian (we are in trio right now until Hermana Melgar's comp receives a visa and can come) are super excited about a bike.

The thing is, Hermana Carmita lives in an area by the beach which is a very poor area, and these people don't have anything. It's a rough life for them, but on this Sunday afternoon everyone smiled a bit more and it was like the colonia was a different place. A couple of people actually approached us after and said that they were happy we had come, and one inactive member that we didn't even know lived out there came and talked to us.

Love your life, wherever you are. Keep smiling, keep trying, and God will provide ways that you've never thought of to share the light of the gospel with others. I know that this is true! And I love you all! Have a wonderful week.

Love, Hermana Roe

HAPPINESS IS THE PLAN
Sept. 24,2018

Happy Monday everbody! It has been quite the week. Have I ever mentioned how much I love being a missionary? I really think it is just the best.

Just a few things that happened this week:

I'm 10 months old in the mission and 20 years old in life! Honestly, I am just as surprised as you are that I've made it this far. The church is true! On Saturday we celebrated by doing my favorite thing: missionary work! We met new people and taught a few lessons. My companions also decorated the house a bit, we stuck a candle in a cupcake to get the full experience. (we actually had to light the candle 3 times haha)

We went with Hermana Marina and Rosety (recent converts) and helped them to prepare dinner. So I ate quesadillas de pollo and queso with yummy pico de gallo y guacamole for my bday dinner. I was a happy camper.
All in all, it was a great birthday, I am grateful for all the people who made it great!
Happy 20th Birthday To Bren!!!

My companions decorated the house and made my bday unforgettable!

Something really awesome that happened this week has to do with a woman named Carolina. We actually met her a few weeks ago when we were walking down the street and she yelled out to us from her car. She had seen us earlier that day in Chedraui (the grocery store, it was pday) and wanted to know if we speak english and if we are from Utah. (her brother lives there) She gave us her address, and we passed by her house 3 times but she was never home! Then, earlier this week, she saw us walking again, and literally stopped traffic to ask us when we were going to come visit.
We were finally able to visit with her, and we quickly found out why the Spirit has been pushing us together for all these weeks. Carolina explained to us that just a few days ago marks 1 year since her husband passed away. She expressed her feelings of helplessness to us, and the Spirit was so sweet and loving.
Oh how I love the Plan of Happiness! It is divinely inspired and perfect. It allows us to be reunited with our loved ones after this life and to be redeemed through the Atonement of Jesus Christ. Question by question, Carolina is learning and understanding that the Resurrection is para todos!
Grateful to these sisters for making my Bday so special and I love them.

Awesome tag picture!!! Mom loves it!!!

What a wonderful and incomprehensible gift! I know that every willing soul who will put in the work and faith can make it. Through the grace of the Savior, we can experience the wonderful blessings He has waiting for us.

I love you all! Don't forget to minister to one another. Sometimes the people we love the most are the hardest to minister to, don't you think? I love what it says in "Jesus The Christ", "Their love for one another was again specified as an essential to their continued love for Christ. In that love they would find joy."
These 3 kids ministered to their Mom on Bren's bday...had a
great day together touring the home show.

Keep on learning about our Savior and what His perfect life and teachings mean for you. Aaaaand have a great week! No se cansen de ver milagros!

LOVE YOU!!!!
