His Spirit to be With You
Happy Monday again! Aug. 27,2018
Today a lot of this email is influenced from the talk by President Eyring from this past general conference, "His Spirit to be With You". I absolutely love this talk and it is one we should all study carefully again and again.
Today a lot of this email is influenced from the talk by President Eyring from this past general conference, "His Spirit to be With You". I absolutely love this talk and it is one we should all study carefully again and again.
First off, I think it is safe to say that we all experience hard days, weeks, and maybe months or years. Maybe a life? No, maybe not that extreme. Unless you are 24601, that is the exception there. Whoever got that, I love you.
We saw one of those hard times yesterday, when we and the zone leaders when to a funeral of a 1 month old baby, whose twin died almost immediately after birth. Her name was Ximena, and she was fighting for her life, but was called home early. The mom is the neice of Hermana Vero, an inactive hermana. So she asked us to come and sing hymns. I don't think I can forget the sobs as we sang, "I am a child of God" and as the parents began to weep as we sang about how we have been sent to an earthly home, with parents kind and dear. This was one of the moments where, as they silently closed the too small casket, I could feel the spirit telling me that this little baby's parents so kind and dear would one day have the opportunity to hold her once more and watch her and her twin sister grow up.

We can also experience moments of sweet love and joy! (so don't get too down)
President Eyring says, "More precious than a memory of events is the memory of the Holy Ghost touching our hearts and His continuing affirmation of truth. More precious than seeing with our eyes or remembering the word spoken and read is recalling the feeling that accompanied the quiet voice of the Spirit."

Here are a series of experiences that happened just this week:
Hermano Abraham (an adorable member of about 65 years) invited us in and set up the fan on his chair so help us cool off. Then he used his money he had gained from the day selling pozol and dulce de coco, grabbing it off the plate on the counter to go and buy us juice. They don't have much of anything, but sitting there drinking peach juice and reading from 2 Nephi 33, I'd never felt richer.
Belen (who hopefully gets baptized this week or the next!) Wrote hermana hebertson and I a cute little card saying how much she loves us and then her mom gave her money to go eat pizza with us!
Ricardo, Isabela and Wilberth being like people I have known my whole life.
And then, the wonderful power of the Holy Ghost personally. As I knelt down to pray this morning, I felt a little off. Just a little tired, overwhelmed, wondering if I was doing any good out here in Carmen. And as I prayed, I found myself saying, "I'll give you my heart. You have my heart. Please just let me have peace and be happy." In an instant, I saw in my mind the celestial room in the Villahermosa temple. That sweet sweet peace and love that can only be found in the temple filled my heart until it was overflowing. The Holy Spirit chased out every single doubt in my mind.
| My halfway celebration!!! So fun. |
We have made sacred covenants with God, and we are able to have "His spirit to be with us". I know that that is true, I know it and I love it and I am trying my very best to live it. I love you all, have a wonderful week!
Love,
Hermana Brenna Roe
