Happy Monday again!! I can't believe how quickly time is flying by. I feel like I say that every week, but it is true! Faster and faster each week.
Happy Monday again!! I can't believe how quickly time is flying by. I feel like I say that every week, but it is true! Faster and faster each week.
We had a really great experience this week! Actually, 2.
First, on Sunday we got out and were walking to go pass by for María de Jesús and her family. They had told us all week that they were set to come to church on Sunday. We are almost there, and there is this terrible crazy hill that we always have to walk down (and back up) to get to their house. And I was super nervous because Sunday's are basically like playoffs in the mission. Praying that they would come with us to church. And as I was thinking all this, I was thinking, "How many times do you need me to walk out here? A 1000 times? I'll do it, if that's what you want." We get there, they couldn't go because they were all working and they don't have really any money so it is pretty important that they get whatever they can. So we go to church, and I am thinking, "Oh my lanta, I think God took that 1000 times walking down there thing literally."
But we walk in, and the Bishop runs up, shakes our hands, and says, "I have to introduce you guys to someone!" We walk into the chapel and a man with his family is there. His name is Hugo, and he is the only nonmember in his family. We started talking and put an appointment for tonight.

Sitting there during sacrament meeting, I remembered the 1000 times I have to walk that hill. But it hit me that the Lord just needs to know that I am willing. He already had something, or in this case, somebody waiting for me. I just had to walk the hill again.

Also, on Saturday we were trying to find a park that we never found because it was in a huge colonia that we have never been in before. We finally get to one point where we realize that we are about to enter another colonia that we have been in, but we never knew that the 2 connect! So we sit down for a minute to figure everything out. We see that a man is watching us from his house, but we don't think anything about it. Then, an old man with a cane walks out, comes over to us, and asks us, "Are you missionaries?" We said, "Sí (b/c we speak spanish lol) de la iglesia de Jesucristo de los santos de los últimos días." And he tells us that he is a member. We came back on Sunday, and begin to talk with him. He proceeded to tell us his story.

Sostenes is his name, and he was baptized when he was 32. He is now 76. He has a beautiful testimony. As we sat there and talked, I was just enchanted by his story. And sitting there, on a Sunday evening, I rememberd that God always has a plan for us, even when we think we are lost. We have never ever visited this colonia before. And we sat at a random spot on a random day and of course it was right by the house of a member that needs a little bit of help. Somebody to listen to him, because his wife just passed away in October.
When Sostenes was baptized in 1974, nobody could've guessed that I and my companion would be able to have our own testimonies strengthened in 2018. So this is my invitation: share your testimony this week. And don't forget that decisions determine destiny. It doesn't matter if you walk the streets like us or use a cane like Sostenes. It doesn't matter if you were converted in 1974 or still have yet to do so. Do it today. Deepen your conversion. Read the scriptures. And enjoy those Sunday evenings under the stars watching for miracles. I love you all!
