Emiliano Zapata

Hello ya'all,                                                                                                      Jan. 2, 2017

Hola! I am alive and well in V. It is so hot hahahaha. But it is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. I am waiting to find out what my area will be and who my companion will be. I should find out about 11:30ish. The flight down here was great. I sat by a guy that is 20 and is a native to Villahermosa. We talked the whole way. Long story short, I actually committed him to go and visit the temple in Mexico City. That one has a visitors center. I showed him a my pic of the Logan temple, the one that you took. He was amazed, he loved it. So fun. It was hilarious because at the end of the flight he tried to give me a hug. Hahahaha nope

My pday will be on Mondays. I hope this makes sense, I am running off of one hour of sleep.

Something cool is that V is the highest baptizing mission in all of MX. This past year (2017) there were over 1000 baptisms. Craziness. I love my mission president and am excited to get to work.

I received a blessing from E. Cassat on Sat. and he quoted two parts of my patriarchal blessing. I am so grateful for that blessing because there were a lot of things I didn´t even know I was worried about but that were put to ease. Something that really stood out to me were two things. First, he said that I have an ability to serve and be a light that is of a higher capacity than others. Second, that I would be a blessing to all I meet. Those were tender mercies to hear.

Tell Tay happy birthday for me, I know i am a couple of days late.

I am grateful to be here! I really have no words to describe the beauty of this place. Many things are different, but I am excited to learn and enjoy this wonderful culture.

Right now we are doing interviews. I believe that tomorrow we will email again. I will let you know more things tomorrow. I love you all!

Drumroll please:  I am in the Zapata zone. My city is Emiliano Zapata. It is about 2 hours from Villa. Little more. We are the only Hermanas, we have four elders. I love them!

I share a house with about a thousand spiders that live on the ceiling (jk, not a thousand. probably about 20 or 30) And some good old fashioned lizards. I have a pic of the outside of my house and my comp H. Huber. I love her. I will send the pic soon. This morning was hilarious, my first time using a bucket to shower. I love it!! haha
My CCM District!!! It was HARD saying goodbye.
Sister Wixom and me. She was a great companion in the CCM!
My new comp Sister Huber!!! LOVE HER!!!

Hola hola! Hope yall are doing well. I am doing great! Life here en Zapata is so good. It is not a small town but it is haha. Today we walked alllll over it. So fun. I met with my district, they are wonderful. Hilarious.

I am so blessed with my comp! I am her first hija, and she is so stoked about it. I cannot describe the love that she has for me and that I have for her. Bless her. She is always ready to answer questions and explain things. Always asking how I am feeling, asking if I have questions. I am very blessed!

Today we did a lot a walking all over Zapata. Haha it was great. Literally every person always says Buenas noches or whatever time of the day it is. Sometimes you have to say it first because they think you don´t know any spanish. And their children are yelling Chelo! Which is another word for gringo haha.
President and Sister Haws whom I love already!!!

We had a district meeting today and I got to meet los elderes in the area. Love em. They are great.
Excited to get to work with them lots. The three sets of missionaries share the branch, so I will probably be seeing them every day.
My wonderful teacher Hermana Benevides

Long story short, life is good! I was shocked for a hot minute, especially when we stopped in to chat with some people and they lived in a literal concrete hut. The little niña had a cool car that you can drive in though. Like the barbie ones that are big.

Lots of loco craziness! So much stuff that I don´t even know what to write. Basically this place is beautiful and wonderful and different. On the plan ride here I chatted with the young man after and he was just in shock that this white girl was going to go and live in a place she had never been with no family. When he asked where in Tabasco I would be and I told him I would be finding out, he was just like, Whaaaaat. So funny.

Happy Birthday to Taylor from your BFF!!!
The church is true!
