Because He LIVES

March 25, 2019

Happy Monday! How is everybody doing? I hope you are all great. We are enjoying the work down here in Coatza.
This past Sunday was a very special day. (yesterday) Luis, just the sweetest person ever, got baptized! He is such an amazing person, I feel honored to have been able to met him and worked with him. This is a special story.
Luis got baptized!!! What a beautiful day it was!
Luis is a long time friend de la familia Bolaños. Gisel is in our ward, she is a great Sister. Luis lives at her brother's house, Tino. Oftentimes we eat there with the entire family. As we have worked with Luis, we have been working towards his baptism. We, without knowing, put his date for the 24th. The 24th is actually the anniversary of Miriam's death, the little sister of Gisel. When we told Gisel and her family about Luis and his baptism, they all got so excited! They said that they were so nervous about what they were going to do that day, they didn't want to mope around and be sad. Now, they were excited to the baptism of Luis, who had been very loved by Miriam.
Luis had great support at his baptism!

On Sunday, everybody came out to the baptism. Gisel's parents, who are in a different ward, and Tino, who has been inactive for 19 years. It was the first time he has been to church in allll those years. Luis was excited but nervous because there were a bunch of people out there for the baptism. I told him he had to give the final prayer because he made me give a talk. He gave a beautiful prayer.

Celebrating Hermana Tovalina's Bday!!!
We ate with the family after, and returned in the evening for a family home evening. There were about 10 people there, and we talked about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.
More adorable pups!!!

Pizza Party with Luis!

The Spirit was present as we bore testimony that the most important gift we have ever received was God's son, and that the most important day in the history of the world was the day that Jesus Christ lived again. Never to die, to be sick, to be in pain. Never again.

Sometimes, we can't take away the pain. I would love to, especially as we all exchanged hugs or handshakes and I could see the pain and sorrow in their eyes as they remembered their sweet Miriam. But sometimes we just can't. However, we can share in the burden. Just be present.

I love the gospel of Jesus Christ. I love you all, have a great week. And ponder on what this phrase means to you, "Because He lives..."
Pineapples for days! They are so fresh and cheap too! I bought 2 for $1 American $$$!!!

Love you!
